Unless you're getting an internal ADSL card, most ADSL "modems"
communicate with the host via Ethernet.  Cable modems work the same way.

Therefore, configuration of the machine is easy, as long as you know
what kind of NIC you have.  This message is being written as I sit in
front of a PC with a WD-8013 NIC attached to a LANCity modem ...

You should contact the area ADSL provider and get details on what they
are doing.
