Formatting large hard drives

I've managed to get my hands on an 18Gig SCSI drive (woohoo!!), but I was
just wondering if I should format it completely as one ext2 partition or
split it up.

ext2 dosen't seem to have any problems with it as one large partition,
except that it takes 30 seconds to mount it at bootup, and seems to waste
close to 2 Gig in formatting.

Would ext2 be more efficient in smaller partitions?
