Your xserver is restarting, failing, and repeating.  On one system exhibiting this failure, I found that I coudl give the three-fingered salute between failure & restart, so at least my filesystems were handled directly.

All I can suggest is to make sure that you're using matching versions of xserver* and xbase, and to use the XF86Setup utility that comnes as part of the vga16 server package.
