RE: checking 8 bit clean on ppp

I am having this same problem dialing into my ISP. Same modem pool and # I
use for my Winx ppp connection. I was going to write about this, but had to
WORK instead. Don't you hate things like that that get in way of SERIOUS
computing??
TIA
Bob

I almost have this laptop connected by ppp to the debian machine on my
desk, but not quite.

huh? This is an 8 bit clean connection. so how to i test it myself to
have something to show the telecommunications folks? Or could my modem
be sending 7 bits? It's a compaq pcmia modem in an ibm thinkpad.

any help would be appreciated.
