If you have a Linux box handy (and you must if you're creating images)
you must mount the rescue floppy on /mnt and run `/mnt/rdev/sh' after
you've copied your new kernel onto the floppy. The script runs four
rdev commands which are essential for a successful floppy boot!
Note that you can run the commands yourself if you are compiling the
kernel on a remote machine, or a machine which has no floppy. When I
make a boot kernel for people that is what I do, so all they have to do
is copy the kernel to the disk (using DOS, windows, whatever) and it's
ready to go.
If you haven't run rdev.sh or the commands found within that script I
recommend you do so :)
