You are correct, then I made the statement that I realized that the LSB
would take care of this by making one common number that the different
different distributions could reference their release to and that the
changing of Debian version would probably be unneccssary. At least that is
what I ment to say.

In other words, I realized after about the second post that the LSB would
make the confusion between the distributions go away.  Just tell the users
to look at the LSB compliance and they can then compare different releases
of Linux with different version numbers easilly.
