I upgraded to hamm since may and I haven't got any problems regarding
libc6 conflicting with libc5 just try to follow correct procedure on
upgrading your debian system.  What I did was install libc5 on the oldlibs
directory then installed libc6.  That's it then I slowly upgraded the
packages.  The only program that depends on libc5 on my box is well I
forgot <g>.
