It is much better....
This program I found a while ago and made up boot floppies of...
next thing I knew everyone at work wanted one! 

neat trick:
add this to lilo.conf:
image=/usr/lib/hwtools/memtest86
label=memtest

then run lilo...and you can select it at boot time as another
kernel image :)

it works great :)
