Getting Squid to work

I am trying to setup up Squid cache server. I have narrowed my erros down
to one. If I type 'squid start' at the console I get the following message.

IOT trap/Abort

Here is part of my cache.log

I am assuming that I have something set wrong in the squid.conf file, but
I don't know what. Also I was wondering, do I need to do anything special
in Netscape to use the Squid cache or does it just automatically cache
everything.
