You're right, of course, and that is what my startup scripts say
(I just typed it into the email wrong), but unfortunately that doesn't
seem to work either:
bash-2.00# ifconfig eth0 203.14.18.1 netmask 255.255.255.128 broadcast 203.14.18.127
SIOCSIFNETMASK: Invalid argument
It doesn't work on 2.0.32 either, I just discovered.
