However! This doesn't allow you to boot directly from Win95. If you still want to
do that without first doing a shutdown to DOS then read on. First of all in
reality you *can't* run loadlin without exiting/shutting-down into DOS, but you
can't make it so that windows will take care of that for you. Here's whatcha do:
Ok, so let's say you've got loadin in c:\loadlin (or whereever). Open up the
Explorer, select loadlin, and choose Properties from the file menu. You'll get a
dialog window. Click the 'Program' tab and you'll see where you can set the
command line (do just as for your batch file). Now at the bottom of the dialog
there's an 'Advanced' button. Click that and you'll get a window where there's a
check-box for 'MS-DOS mode'. Check this box. You may now hit the window's 'OK'
button. You'll notice that the Explorer has created a "shortcut". When you
double-click this shortcut you'll be warned that windows is gonna shut down and
the windows will do so and run loadlin with the command line you specified and
Voila! Note that you can disable that warning dialog as well: Just select
Properties for the shortcut and in the Advanced settings for the Program tab you
can un-check the 'warn blah blah' checkbox.
