XDM "unsecure session"

Hello-
I did a clean install of 2.0-980504 and after tweaking a couple
things, XDM came up with the login greeting "This is an unsecure session".

I can get rid of this message by seting

DisplayManager*authComplain: false

in /etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config, but this doesn't seem like the right way to
fix the problem. I notice also in /etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config:

DisplayManager.authDir: /var/lib/xdm

The specified directory does not exist... I've not seen this message
before, and am curious about what it means exactly.

TIA,

	Tim
