Qt install problem
I am trying to install KDE,
but the Qt compile/installation failed. I followed the instructions, including
the ..profile additions to the best of my (very limited) knowledge.
..../qt make goes along for a while, then:
gcc -I/usr/local/qt/include -c -02 -fno-strength-reduce -Wall -W
-I/usr/X11R6/include -fPIC qapp_x11.cpp
qapp_x11.cpp:46: X11/Xlib.h: No such file or directory
....and so on for four more files, followed by 3 errors.
Trying to make the examples gives me:
>From .../qt/examples/Makefile:
####### This section was automatically generated from
####### /usr/local/qt/Makefile for building on
####### linux-gcc-shared on Sat Mar 28 19:24:22 EST 1998
INCDIR = /usr/local/qt/include
CFLAGS = -O2 -fno-strength-reduce -Wall -W -I/usr/X11R6/include
LIBCFLAGS = -fPIC
YACCCFLAGS = -Wno-unused -Wno-parentheses
LFLAGS = -L/usr/local/qt/lib -lqt
CC = gcc
MOC = /usr/local/qt/bin/moc
SHELL = /bin/sh
####### End of automatically generated section
When run, reports:
(stuff deleted)
gcc aclock.o main.o mclock.o -o aclock -L/usr/local/qt/lib -lqt
ld: cannot open -lqt: No such file or directory
This is repeated for each example file.
The KDE instructions say I need "libgr", and that it "should be included in
most distributions." I could find no trace of it on my system, so I downloaded
and installed libgr-2.0.13. Qt make still does the same thing.
dpkg won't install KDE, it says "qt1"
is not installed, also "libgif2". Do I need to download libgif2 from
somewhere? A search at linux.org came up empty.
This is the first time I've tried to compile anything, so I have no idea what
I'm doing.
TIA
