Getting Started

Unfortunatly I can't install Linux on any of my
machines, but I can use the ASH Shell from the
rescue disk, as I am a complete novice to Linux, I
was wondering what to do next, where can I find some
*simple*, and small programs on the net, how to unzip
them, and if I need to format a drive for linux, if
so how do I format a floppy, or my syquest backup>
drive. The reason I can't install is because I can't
put anything decent on my work computer, HR thinks
that would make me less productive, and my home
computer has some propriety hardware. Also I can't cd
to some Rescue files, particulary proc/net/tcp, and a
few others.
