The command "apropos <something>" can help you find the appropriate tool
too; eg

[5:16pm] hamish@yodeller:~> apropos session
getsid (2)           - get session ID
login (1)            - Begin session on the system
script (1)           - make typescript of terminal session
setsid (2)           - creates a session and sets the process group ID
setsid (8)           - run a program in a new session
