Hi Gregory!

I think, that you probably have the ppa support compiled into your kernel.
If so, recompile your kernel, and make both ppa and lp support a module.
And do not auto mount of your Zip at boot time. Then it should be possible
to use both the Zip and the printer. Even when this does not work at the
same time (means, that your Zip must be unmounted, and the ppa module
unloaded, before you want to print).

Another good solution is hardware. Go out and buy a parallel port card. In
Germany, this thing won't cost much (e.g. 35,- DM). And then, you have
probably the BEST solution of all. I'd made it, and I'm happy with it.
Another advantage of this card is, that is has 2 parallel ports, so I use
one for my Zip, one for my old Epson FX-1050 and the third for my Epson
Stylus COLOR 500.
