perl 5.04 don't compile #

I'm running brand new debian 1.3.0
and I need upgrade my perl5.03 to
5.04.
I'd got the following message when 
tried the Configure -d:
----------------------------------------
        cc -O2 -Dbool=char -DHAS_BOOL -I/usr/local/include -L/usr/local/lib
-o try try.c -lnsl -lndbm -lgdbm -ldbm -ldb -ldl -lm -lc -lcrypt
        ./try

and I got the following output:

ld: error: libc.so.6, needed by /lib/libnsl.so, conflicts with libc.so.5
I can't compile the test program.

well my box has
/lib/libc5 and /lib/libc6 as well.
