You need svgatextmode.

I run the console in 128x48 @ 75 Hz.

You have to specify a modeline similar to the ones needed by the X server.
similar *NOT* equal. Check the docs for advice how to define a mode.

Below is my config. Take it for comparision, but do not use it directly
without checking the values.

*You might blow your Monitor* (seriously)
