Still with the libc6-dev issue.

I would like to thank everyone for pointing me to the mini-howto. I
still seem to have this resource conflict, and I was wondering if
someone could tell me what step I missed?

In order, here is what I did:

1)installed ldso_1.9.5-2
2)installed libc6_2.0.5c.0.1
3)installed ncurses3.0_1.9.9e-2 and ncurses3.4_1.9.9g-5
4)installed libreadline2_2.1-7 and libreadlineg2_2.1-7
5)installed bash_2.0.1-5
6)installed libg++272_2.7.2.8-0.1
7)installed dpkg_1.4.0.19, dpkg-d_1.4.0.19 and dpkg-ftp
8)attempted to install libc6-dev_2.0.5c-0.1 and failed.

I then went on and did the following:
9)DOWNGRADED to libc5_5.4.33-3
10)DOWNGRADED to libc5-dev_5.4.33-3
11)reinstalled libc6_2.0.5c.0.1
12)attempted to install libc6-dev*

At this point it still is in conflict. I don't really HAVE any *-dev
packaged to purge that are an issue here(That I know of). What critical
step did I miss... or what tangent did I take which wasn't condusent to
the requirements of the install?

Many thanks for the responses....
