You're right about that! The whole Debian package system is still
somewhat a mystery- but then, I'd never even USED Linux before this last
weekend...

Okay, you guys have been a GREAT help! I went back to the 2.0.29
kernel, re-organized the commands to compile the kernel-- I ALMOST have
a perfect boot disk now!!! The mouse/serial/parallel stuff works well
as modules now, but I'm still stuck on the sound part. It may well be
bacause I only have isapnptools version 1.9 (the soundblaster FAQ
suggests 1.10 though I don't know where to find that one).
Everything looks good during boot, but then I get this error when the
sound module tries to initialize:
'no dependency information for module:
"/lib/modules/2.0.29/misc/sound.o"'
Everything but sound works great (even in X11), but stuff like Quake
will seg fault unless I disable sound. Any other advice!?!??!?!?
