[Q] Various problems with Compaq DeskPro XL - CD-ROM, MSS Sound.
When I boot up -
kernel: FDC 0 is a National Semiconductor PC87306
kernel: scsi0 : AM53/79C974 PCscsi driver rev. 0.5; host I/O address:
0x7100; irq: 11
kernel:
kernel: scsi : 1 host.
kernel: Vendor: COMPAQPC Model: ST32430N Rev: 0554
kernel: Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision:

kernel: Detected scsi disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
kernel:
kernel: target 1: rate=10.0 Mhz, synchronous, sync offset=15 bytes
kernel: Vendor: COMPAQ Model: ST32550N Rev: 6316

kernel: Detected scsi disk sdb at scsi0, channel 0, id 1, lun 0
kernel: Vendor: COMPAQ Model: PD-1 LF-1094C Rev: B110
kernel: Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision:

kernel: Detected scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi0, channel 0, id 5, lun 0
kernel: scsi : detected 1 SCSI cdrom 2 SCSI disks total.
kernel: SCSI device sda: hdwr sector= 512 bytes. Sectors= 4110000 [2006
MB] [2.0 GB]
kernel: SCSI device sdb: hdwr sector= 512 bytes. Sectors= 4110000 [2006
MB] [2.0 GB]
If I read these messages correctly, my CDROM should be /dev/sr0
I pop-in a CD and do the following -
# mount -t umsdos /dev/sr0 /cdrom
mount: the kernel does not recogonize /dev/sr0 as a block device
(maybe `insmod driver'?)
# mount -t iso9660 /dev/sr0 /cdrom
mount: the kernel does not recogonize /dev/sr0 as a block device
(maybe `insmod driver'?)
My kernel has umsdos, iso9660, SCSI CD-ROM support compiled in.
# ls -l /dev/sr0
brw-r--r-- 1 root root 22, 0 Jul 24 17:46 /dev/sr0
My machine is a Compaq DeskPro XL 6200.
How could I get my CD-ROM to work?
Also, has anybody got the MSS Sound to work on a Compaq DeskPro XL?
Thaths
