[solved][tetex]



Ok.  The problem was apparently a dpkg one.  I purged and reinstalled the
tetex packages and it worked fine.  Thanks to those who responded.

I'm still confused as to why "locate" would report a nonexistent file in a
directory which is empty, tho.  Does it read the packages file or
something?
