Re: compiling with libc5

Are you kidding me :)?

OK, point taken, -smotif libg++ packagres won't be possible without
a libg++27-altdev. (Do I care? no, but others may, I agree).

Well, theoretically you aparrently are wrong, but practically you
apear to be right :): most "knowledgable" people warned me (and others)
that the libc5 compiled xlib packagres would be sure to contain
interesting features (that people with little faith would call
bugs, as Linus remarked about 2.1.44), but so far many X apps have
been re compiled for glibc, using the libc5 compiled xlib packages,
and no "features" have shown up yet, as far as I'm aware.

This could still mean though, that the libc6 compiled xlib packages
do give is those eagerly sought after features when compiling
libc5 stuff with them, but let's hope that won't happen.

xmp may well posess the same features as xlib does, i.e. maybe we
don't need an xmp-altdev.

(Actually, I'm not aware of Motif packages needing libg++, but never
mind).

> PS Do you think this discussion should rather go to debian-devel ?

Yes, I do, but since I guess this discussion is over now, it
doesn't really matter any more (well, at least we agree about
everything I believe).

Well, I'm sure my ex-girlfriend would like that signature, and maybe
I think it's cute too, but it _is_ rather long :(
