This is correct. I have done this while still trying to resolve the
sig 11 problem on one of my machines. If you change to the proper 
directory and remove the *.o file that the error shows for, then
restart your compile you will eventually get the job done.

The tough part can be finding the hardware problem. These can be
hard to find. Memory, cache, cpu, cooling ....
