Hi,

did you install perl ? Or did you stick with the perl which comes with
the installation disks and didn't install the rest of perl ?

I have 
dpkg -s perl

Package: perl
Status: install ok installed
Priority: important
Section: interpreters

Version: 5.003.07-10

and it did succeed installing man-db.
