RE: ack! x has been hosed

Hi Rick,

On 17-Jun-97 You wrote:

  a missing default font.

Did you save the XF86Config in XF86Setup? If not rerun XF86Setup and don't use
the old XF86Config as the default. Once XF86Setup is done, save the XF86Config
before doing anything else. You can run xvidtune after you start the X, so don't
try to run it in the XF86Setup.

Make sure you picked right xserver and that you have installed it using dselect
or with dpkg -i.

??? should i have defined a different ramdac? what is one, anyway?

You shouldn't have to define ramdac. The XF86Setup will probe it if left blank,
and this goes for any setting in video card section. Just make sure you pick the
right xserver.

I don't think these clocks are right. So let the XF86Setup generate new
XF86Config, which, hopefully, have new clocks setting.

Once you have new XF86Config file, then see how many errors you still get.

        Cheers,
        David
