Re: Question on install

[I was not able to make correct boot disks with dd, right now it's about 10
disks that are not working, though they're all a bit older. I can format
usual dos discs and read usual discs so the fd drive should be ok. I'm using
the 04-04 disc set.

>From the file md5sums.txt:
ebde1e3ada37600b4aafeb729734e284 resc1440.bin

What I did:
desire:/space/debian/bo/disks-i386/current # cat resc1440.bin >/dev/fd0
desire:/space/debian/bo/disks-i386/current # md5sum </dev/fd0
986c8099396350772a6e43264f145e66
desire:/space/debian/bo/disks-i386/current # md5sum resc1440.bin
986c8099396350772a6e43264f145e66 resc1440.bin

Does this help in any way?
I mean, cat usually works and this information tells me, everything should
be ok... And since dd only wrecks disks... (GNU fileutils 3.12)

When booting sda comes up again after some schrabs of the fd...
And now all probes are failing, no disc is usable after reboot.

Apr 12 10:13:44 desire kernel: floppy0: probe failed...
Apr 12 10:13:49 desire last message repeated 11 times
Apr 12 10:13:49 desire kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 02:00, sector 0

Then I built the disc on a friend's computer and it booted, but after
Uncompressing... the System halted -- CRC error.

Is it possible that I should not have copied the bin files on my dos
partition and then by disc to the other computer? Perhaps the binaries
did not make it?

Dammit, what's it I'm overseeing?
