Re: Problem solved for fdisk (?)

     Fdisk _will_ allow a partition to start after cylinder 1024.

     Following is a copy of my partition table (The reasons for the
odd assortment of logical partitions are too lengthy to go into here):

   Device Boot Begin Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1   *        1        1      305   153688+   6  DOS 16-bit >=32M
/dev/hda2          306      306     1265   483840    5  Extended
/dev/hda3         1024     1266     1365    50400   83  Linux native
/dev/hda4         1024     1366     2105   372960   83  Linux native
/dev/hda5          306      306      712   205096+   6  DOS 16-bit >=32M
/dev/hda6          713      713      777    32728+   4  DOS 16-bit <32M
/dev/hda7          778      778      780     1480+   1  DOS 12-bit FAT
/dev/hda8          781      781      840    30208+  83  Linux native
/dev/hda9          841      841      900    30208+  83  Linux native
/dev/hda10         901      901     1000    50368+  83  Linux native
/dev/hda11        1001     1001     1060    30208+  82  Linux swap
/dev/hda12        1024     1061     1265   103288+  83  Linux native

     The 'Begin' column is meaningless with disks exceeding 1024
cylinders. The 'v' command (verify the partition table) will complain
vigorously about overlaps in setups like this, but those complaints
may be ignored.
