I've noticed that sometimes, it gets confused, especially if you kill
it in the middle of something.  Look in whichever directory you've
specified to dftp as it's working directory, and there'll be some
dotfiles.  I think one of those (or perhaps the .netrc it creates in
the user's home directory) is the problem.

One time, the problem was that the Packages files on the debian site
were empty.  You might want to check that too.
