Help: SLIP connection not working since upgrade

I have upgraded my laptop to 1.1

I have only done the base installation, and installing basic
programs like gcc make. I compiled the 1.3.57 kernel
with ELF/AOUT/SLIP/PPP Support

I have also installed pcmcia 2.8.4 then 2.8.8

My modem and the Ethernet card are recognized and work fine,
But SLIP (CSLIP) through the modem does not work
This problem did was not in previous kernel 1.3.56

But when I tried to restore the old root system from tape
the problem persisted.

I have tried other kernels 1.3.68, 1.3.70, all with the same problem

The problem:
I use dip to make the connection.
dip works fine the connection is made.

the route command shows that everything is the way it used to be,
but I am unable to access the Internet.

When I try: telnet IP#
I get time out.

What could have gone wrong, everything is the way it used to be,
I make the modem/slip connection, but nothing goes through

Is there a way to debug those problem. Does any one know what could
have happen?

-Any help will be appreciated
-Thanks
Oz
