X-Windows problems

Hi all,
I'm a very happy user of Debian-1.2 (great job!), which have a little problem with the new XFree86-3.2:
sometimes, when I start XFree (I use startx), the X screen has the extreme left part disturbed, and if I move the mouse over it, it will draw in the extreme right part, and viceversa.
If I use xvidtune, the screen globally translate, but also the effect translate, and it persist; but if I switch to another console, and after return to the X screen, mostly the effect disappear.
I think that the problem is related to a installation problem which I have faced: the XF86Setup and xf86config don't configured X-Window, because my monitor have Hsync=60 Hz and VSync=31.5 Hz, while XFree will HSync=60.10 and VSync=31.55 (!!).
My Card is a Oak-77 and my monitor is a goldstar VGA 640x480x256.
XF86Setup have not complained about VSync and HSync, and the I'm not sure if the problem is this but now X work, except for the little problem explained above.
I thank all, which will help me!
Ciao!
