No, the boot floppy created by 1.1 uses syslinux and understands the boot
command line. The 1.1 system also makes the hard disk bootable, and that
understands the command line as well.

For now, boot the installation floppy, not the custom floppy, with the
aha1542= argument, and with a root= argument for your hard disk root
filesystem, and with a "ro" argument to make it start with a read-only
root, and with ramdisk=0 to disable the ram disk. I think that will work.
I'm typing this from memory, though, so it may not be quite right.

I have an AHA1542CF, I think, at home. If you don't find it (look for an
adaptec web site) write to me later.
