Please send some more detailed error output. I only use (the
recommended) xdm. You might want to try that to see if it has the
same problem. If so, zero the file /var/lib/xdm/xdm-errors, then
cause the problem, then show it to us.
If you have the gpm package installed, make sure to
Either 1) remove /etc/init.d/gpm OR
2) change the following in that file:
start)
echo "Starting gpm"
/usr/bin/gpm -t $TYPE
;;
Change to make: make it "/usr/bin/gpm -R -t $TYPE"
