I need a new /etc/termcap, apparently.

I have an old BASE system. I don't remember how old (0.93R3?). (Where
*is* the version of the base system kept? Not in the original /etc/motd,
nor /etc/issue.) One element of this ancient BASE is /etc/termcap,

    # $Id: termcap,v 3.2 1994/09/26 18:56:26 imurdock Exp $

which is causing a recently installed ncurses

    ncurses-runt 1.9.4 0 Video terminal manipulation: run-time files and

to whine:

    "/etc/termcap", line 507: terminal '1640-lm', Illegal character - ' ' = 0x20
    "/etc/termcap", line 507: terminal '1640-lm', Illegal character - ' ' = 0x20
    "/etc/termcap", line 507: terminal '1640-lm', Illegal character - ' ' = 0x20
    "/etc/termcap", line 507: terminal '1640-lm', Illegal character - ' ' = 0x20
    "/etc/termcap", line 507: terminal '1640-lm', Illegal character - ' ' = 0x20
    "/etc/termcap", line 704: terminal 'dm2500', Missing separator
    "/etc/termcap", line 704: terminal 'dm2500', Illegal character - '^' = 0x5e
"/etc/termcap", line 934: terminal 'falco', whitespace in shortname field
"/etc/termcap", line 1031: terminal 'aed-ucb', whitespace in shortname field
"/etc/termcap", line 1291: terminal 'delta', 'cm' unknown % code 0x06
"/etc/termcap", line 1291: terminal 'delta', 'cm' unknown % code 0x06
"/etc/termcap", line 1323: terminal 'mt70', whitespace in shortname field
    "/etc/termcap", line 1966: terminal '4113', Illegal character 'L' = 0x4c in \ sequence
    "/etc/termcap", line 1966: terminal '4113', Illegal character 'L' = 0x4c in \ sequence
    "/etc/termcap", line 2006: terminal 'tek4125', Illegal character '!' = 0x21 in \ sequence
    "/etc/termcap", line 2006: terminal 'tek4125', Illegal character '!' = 0x21 in \ sequence
    "/etc/termcap", line 2014: terminal '4404', Illegal character '!' = 0x21 in \ sequence
    "/etc/termcap", line 2677: terminal 'h19-a', Illegal character - '\' = 0x5c
    "/etc/termcap", line 2799: terminal 'adm20', Illegal character - '^' = 0x5e
    "/etc/termcap", line 3473: terminal 'wy99', Illegal character - '&' = 0x26
    "/etc/termcap", line 3473: terminal 'wy99', Illegal character - '\' = 0x5c

Rhetorical: Aint that special? Why does ncurses feel free to critique my
/etc/termcap?

Serious: Does the latest BASE system have an /etc/termcap that fixes this
problem? Where can I get a new /etc/termcap (e.g. from a new BASE system)?
Can I install/reinstall a package named BASE?
