Can you look at the postscript file that you have on you DOS machine?
Does it look like a PS file?  It should start with %%!PS and be
entirely in ASCII.  Perhaps there's a problem with line endings,
though I've never seen that and I've moved DVIPS files from Linux to
DOS machines succesfully.  Is the IBM 4030 a PS printer? 

I doubt this is a Linux/Debian problem.
