sarge üzerinde postgresql kurulumu hatası

Sarge üzerinde postgresql kurulumu sonrası servisi başlatamıyorum. Hata 
mesajı aşağıda. /var/lib/postgres/data klasörünün altı boş. Kurulum 
sırasında TR_tr, Latin5 ve tarih için de avrupa formatını seçtim. Kernel 
2.6.8-1-k7. Postgresql, client ve dev paketleri kurulu.
