Mi archivo /etc/resolve.conf contiene:
# Generated by NetworkManager
search holando
nameserver 192.168.1.25
Como puedo establecer la configuracion para que me resuelva los nombres
host microsoft y que no me afecte la resolucion dns externos para navegar??
Buenas
Yo lo tengo asi:
### /etc/network/interfaces###
# The primary network interface
allow-hotplug eth0
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.xxx.xxx
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 192.168.xxx.xxx
broadcast 192.168.xxx.255
gateway 192.168.xxx.xxx
# dns-* options are implemented by the resolvconf package, if installed
dns-nameservers 192.168.xxx.xxx
dns-search cosmantenimiento.com
Pero no he podido nunca hacer ping con el nombre a secas. debo utilizar
todo el nombre ( FQDN creo que se dice):
ping nombre.dominio.com
srvbacula:~# ping jjarce
ping: unknown host jjarce
srvbacula:~# ping jjarce.cosmantenimiento.com
PING jjarce.cosmantenimiento.com (192.168.xxx.xxx) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from jjarce.cosmantenimiento.com (192.168.xxx.xxx): icmp_req=1
ttl=128 time=0.924 ms
64 bytes from jjarce.cosmantenimiento.com (192.168.xxx.xxx): icmp_req=2
ttl=128 time=0.393 ms
Suerte y un saludo

Gracias por tu respuesta jmramirez.
Con el cambio que mencione en el archivo /etc/nsswitch.conf puedo hacer
un ping a secas como decis que es lo que me interesa.
andres@nano:~$ ping chelo
PING chelo (192.168.1.79) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 192.168.1.79: icmp_req=1 ttl=128 time=27.3 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.79: icmp_req=2 ttl=128 time=25.2 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.79: icmp_req=3 ttl=128 time=30.2 ms
^C
--- chelo ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 2002ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 25.229/27.605/30.211/2.044 ms.
Si lo vuelvo a la configuracion original no!!!
andres@nano:~$ ping chelo
ping: unknown host chelo.
Mi archivo de configuracion /etc/network/interfaces es el seguiente:
# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
# The primary network interface
# allow-hotplug eth0
# iface eth0 inet dhcp
# Configuracion manual Red Cableada eth0
#auto eth0
#iface eth0 inet static
# address 192.168.1.78
# network 192.168.1.0
# netmask 255.255.254.0
# broadcast 192.168.1.255
# gateway 192.168.1.1
Como veras esta practicamente todo comentado. Asi me establecio la
configuracion manual el network-manager. Si establesco los parametros en
dicho archivo de forma manual el network manager me poner red no
gestionada.
