Pues por probar que no quede, depende de por donde quieras empezar y que
te interese monitorizar. De todas maneras hay mas posibilidades:

monit - A utility for monitoring and managing daemons or similar
programs

hobbit - monitoring system for systems, networks and applications

Si quieres empezar en plan sencillo, puedes probar con munin:

Package: munin
Description: network-wide graphing framework (grapher/gatherer)
Munin is a highly flexible and powerful solution used to create graphs
of virtually everything imaginable throughout your network,

y con netmrg

netmrg - network monitoring tool
Description: network monitoring tool
NetMRG is a database-driven network monitoring
and graphing tool for use on Linux systems. It offers an intuitive
web-based configuration, customized monitoring capabilities for
unusual situations, a fast multi-threaded polling application, and
 brilliant graphs rendered by RRDTOOL.
