Error installing propietary ATI drivers

Hola a todos,

Estaba intentando instalar el driver propietario de ATI en Debian Lenny sobre mi ATI Radeon serie 9200 siguiendo la siguiente guía

cuando, al llegar al quinto paso, el sistema me mostró el siguiente error

when allocating device heads
[ 4321.063578]  [fglrx:firefl_init_module] *ERROR* firegl_init_devices
failed
FATAL: Error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/2.6.26-1-686/misc/fglrx.ko):
Cannot allocate memory

y ahora no puedo arrancar el sistema de ventanas.

¿Alguna sugerencia?
