si utilizas gnome u otro entorno compatible con gtk y gksu, te
recomiendo:

[inigo][uplink]:~ $ apt-cache show update-manager

Luego vas a Escritorio -> administración -> propiedades del software
y lo configuras a base de ratón.

Aunque podrías hacer lo mismo con un simple editor de texto.
