como descargar una pelicula mini-dv a traves de firewire



Saludos.
Primero felicidades a todos por la lista, ayuda a resolver problemas
que todos de una o de otra forma hemos tenido, aparte de tenernos
informados sobre situaciones que a lo mejor no se nos ha dado pero se
nos puede dar.

Mi caso es nuevo, para mi por lo menos, tengo una mini-dv camara
panasonic.( off-topic: de disney paris con mi mujer y niñas, nos lo
hemos pasado pipa ). bueno esta camara tiene salida para firewire. y
ni corto ni perezoso  la he conectado a mi recien instalada debian
-sarge con kernel 2.6.

Despues de bichear por google, etc... instalo kino y dvgrab para
intentar capturar las cintas desde la camara pero nada de nada
Situacion:
   - haciendo un lsmod , dice que tengo cargado raw1394,dv1394,
ohci1394, con lo que creo que lo tengo cargado.
    - de todas formas hago un modprobe de cada uno de ellos por si acaso
   - en kino dice que ieee no esta cargado , o que no tengo
permisos.tengo dos opciones de drivers raw1394 y dev1394 pero no /dev/
no estan ninguno de estos dos dispositivos
   - para evitar problemas de permisos lo hago todo como root.
    
total he intentado varias cosas pero nada de nada.

no se me ocurrre nada mas alguna idea ?
