Gnome o Kde remoto

Me gustaria desde otra maquina (Windows) conectarme a mi maquina linux
y usar Gnome o kde.
He conseguido conectar por consola por ssh. Pero al ejecutar startx me
devuelve lo siguiente:

Couldnt get a file descriptor referring to the console

Me podeis ayudar?
Es seguro permitir onectarse a Gnome?
