Otra de Nvidia GeForce4 MX

Amigos,
Estoy con pequeño gran problemita
He intentado configurar una nVidia GeForce4 MX con woody, he intentado bajando los driver de nvidia.com, hago lo que me dicen pero woody me entrega esto como respuesta al hacer make install al NVIDIA_kernel-1.0.4191 lo siguiente:

"You appear to be compiling the NVIDIA kernel module with a compiler different from the one that was used to compile the runnig kernel. This may be perfectly fine, but there are cases where this can lead to unexpected behaviour and system crashes.
If you know what you are doing and want to override this check, you can do so by setting IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH
In any other case, set the CC environment variable to the name of the compiler that was used to compile the kernel

Cabe destacar que es mi 3° Debian que instalo, esta vez es para un amigo diseñador grafico(a quien estoy evangelizando con Linux)... Pero si no le muestro las X, que interes va a tener en Linux???? :-O

Tengo el kernel 2.4.18(el que trae Debian)
He dado vuelta google, pero todos salen con una solucion diferente... He intentado hartas...
Sera kernel, sera HW, sera error 300(de nuevo) ;-)
Si es kernel, como lo hago para compilar uno nuevo, alguno de Uds. Tiene algun tips n' tricks for newbbies que me haga llegar?
