del faq de instalacion de java...:

* Some users have reported that to get Java runtime
environment 1.3.1 to work on Debian 2.2, they had to install
libstdc++2.9-glibc2.1 from the oldlibs archive.

# apt-get install libstdc++2.9-glibc2.1
