Supongo que en xemacs también estará, pero en Emacs sí se puede. Esto
está en el manual del Emacs (`M-x info RET mEmacs RET'), sección
`Saving Emacs Sessions':
> You can use the Desktop library to save the state of Emacs from one

Me parece que es precisamente esto lo que quieres hacer. Yo no lo he
utilizado nunca, así que no te puedo decir que tal funciona. De todas
formas échale un vistazo al manual a ver si te sirve.
