Se estiver usando o Metacity faça o seguinte:
Entre em Aplicações -> Sistema -> Editor de Configuração
Lá selecione: apps -> Metacity -> General e edite a chave Theme
Acho que é isto, comigo funcionou, mas só consegui alternar entre
os temas já existentes, qdo descompacto um outro tema qualquer
(pelo no themes.org por exemplo) ele não funciona !!!
