A friend just pointed me in the direction of iMatix (see
http://www.imatix.com). They have written some apparently very decent
Open Source software (although I haven't tested it personally). I've
checked the license on one of them: it appears similar in nature to
the BSD license, very permissive. (But I'm no license expert; don't
rely on my comments.)

Their website boasts six pieces of software:
Xitami: a web server based on NCSA
GSLgen: template-based code generation using XML data for all
            purposes and all languages
Libero: write a readable top-level state diagram and output C, C++,
            Perl, etc.
  Htmlpp: an HTML preprocessor
SMT: Component-based multithreading for telecoms + internet devel
            in C
SFL: Standard function library for C/C++ developers

Does anyone have time to look into these and perhaps package them?

   Julian
