devfs został "ukryty" (czy też wywalony) bodajże w 2.6.13 (albo ewentualnie w
2.6.14). devfs przestarzały był już w momencie wprowadzenia.
By przejść na udev trzeba mieć kernel skompilowany w odpowiedni sposób:
