Es ist zwar prinzipiell möglich, den Bootloader auch in einen Partitionsbootblock zu installieren, der übliche Ort hierfür ist jedoch der Master Boot Record und das wäre in Deinem Fall dann wohl einfach "(hd0)", wenn dies Deine Boot-Festplatte ist. Das überschreibt dann natürlich den dort bestehenden Bootloader. Das Installieren eines Bootblocks in den Partitionsbootblock funktioniert mit dem Dateisystem XFS auf jeden Fall nicht, da XFS keinen Platz für den Partitionsbootblock frei läßt. Ich weiss nicht, wie das bei JFS ist. ext3/ext2 lassen Platz frei für einen Partitionsbootblock. Wohin GRUB dann jedoch in diesem Fall die Dateisystem-Stufe stage1_5 schreibt, weiß ich nicht. Nun, ich empfehle Dir für den Anfang auf jeden Fall die Installation in den MBR. Mach jedoch vorher besser eine Kopie Deines alten Bootloaders, falls etwas schief gehen sollte. Via chainloader +1 solltest Du auch Deine OS/2-Partitionen mit GRUB booten können. Ansonsten deutet die Fehlermeldung darauf hin, dass die stage1 oder stage2 nicht gelesen werden konnte, was natürlich sein kannst, wenn Du auf eine Partition mit einer höheren Partitionsnummer als vom Linux-Kernel unterstützt installieren möchtest: > Aug 5 19:21:51 ubuntu grub-installer: Error 6: Mismatched or corrupt > version of stage1/stage2 [...] Ansonsten empfehle ich Dir mal den direkten Weg über die grub-Shell. Soweit ich mich erinnere, gilt diese Limit für SCSI- bzw. über das SCSI-Layer angesprochene Platten. Für mehr als 16 Partitionen empfehle ich LVM. Und sicher, wirklich schön ist dieses Limit nicht. Auch der Amiga hatte diese Beschränkung nicht. Aber der verwendete ja auch nicht dass grundbescheuerte MBR-Partitionierungsschema, das schon vor 10 Jahren hoffnungslos veraltet war.
