Aktiviere die Kantenglaetting, wenn das nicht hilft (und fc-cache -f als
root ausfuehren auch nicht) schau mal in /etc/fonts/local.conf ob dort
etwas wie:

        <match target="font">
                <edit name="antialias"><bool>true</bool></edit>
                <edit name="rgba" mode="assign"><const>rgb</const></edit>
        </match>

Enthalten ist und dort auch true steht.
